Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson makes CrossFit® Games legend

Hustle Up·28 mai 2024

The 31-year-old Icelandic athlete qualified for his 11th consecutive CrossFit® Games. A new record.

Perhaps it was a performance that went unnoticed at the French Throwdown, as the LDLC Arena was buzzing with excitement for Victor Hoffer, who finished in sixth place and will be competing at the CrossFit® Games. Just behind the Frenchman was Bjorgvin Karl Gudmunsson, who made CrossFit® legend in Lyon. From August 8 to 11, in Fort Worth, Texas, he will be taking part in his eleventh consecutive CrossFit® Games. It's an exceptional performance that no other athlete has achieved before.

BKG, as he's known, shows his consistency at the highest level. In 2014, aged 21, he finished in 26th place. After that, he finished in the top 10 eight times, with two third-place finishes in 2015 and 2019. Last year Bjorgvin Karl Gudmunsson placed eleventh.

His eleventh CrossFit® Games will be special for the Icelandic champion, as he explained on his Instagram account. "At the beginning of this season, I lost a friend to cancer. I lost a childhood friend who grew up in the same town as me. This 11th trip to the Games is dedicated to him because I'll never forget the impact he had on me. »
