This CrossFit® practitioner wanted to share his experience and the benefits of CrossFit® for his body and mind. For many years, excess was part of my daily life: junk food, alcohol, a long nightlife. I didn't do any physical activity, I didn't sleep much. I weighed 160 kilos. I was 40 years old and unrecognisable, even though in my youth I'd been a seasoned sportsman.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol, joint pain - my body was sending me warnings. And then one day my heart gave out. I caught a glimpse of death. I had to react, I had to pull myself together, I had to change my lifestyle.
So I went to the gym to try and get back on track. But I was alone in front of the machines and the weights.
Next to the gym was a CrossFit® gym, a sport I knew nothing about. So I went there for the first time to try it out. Since then, I've never left CrossFit®.
I discovered a real community that opened its arms to me and supported me in my rebirth. Because you're never alone when you face a workout.
With CrossFit®, I found a therapy that changed my life, with values that continue to carry me forward every day: fraternity, inclusiveness, humility, surpassing oneself.
Today, nine years after my encounter with CrossFit®, I have succeeded in my challenge. I've rediscovered a healthy lifestyle and good health. CrossFit® has opened my eyes to the importance of eating right for my body. The importance of respecting my body.
CrossFit® is with me every day, well beyond the walls of a gym. It's saved my life.
